found this video, i know it's for a different engine, but it could give you a direction to go. troubleshooting engine malfunctions is not my strongest point, especially in fly-by-wire system

Thanks I cleaned the CPAS a couple days a go and cleared that code. Then the current issue arose.

I can run this with the intake resonator off right?

Ok still need some help. Ditched coil pack four with a new coil...no change

Switched coil 1 with old coil 4 no change...when the engine died this time it actually puffed a little bit of what looked like blue smoke out the throttle body.

1 and 4 do look pretty rough lol

It's peculiar that it wouldn't run at all after the work. Are you sure you got the coil packs pushed down on the plugs?

The resonator really should be connected so the MAF will measure the incoming air. There's also a major vacuum leak with the front hose (i believe it's the pvc system) on the resonator disconnected. With the TB being disconnected from the intake resonator it may also have trouble controling the idle air mixture. Hook everything up like it's suppose to be and try again.

My WAG is this is the problem.

Glad it worked out for you. I had basically the same problem in December and had to replace #1 and 4 coil packs. I found the coil packs on Amazon and got 2 of them for just over the price of 1 locally.

So, since this is the maint. blues section, figured I'd throw my two cents in... Changed the oil in the ol TB the other day after the previous owner neglected to do it for over a year and a half... I was a little reluctant to add the whole 7qts, mainly because I've never heard of any gasoline engine taking that much. Not even my V6 explorer took that much. So I only added 5.5-6 qts of 5w-30 castrol advanced full synthetic with a fram extreme guard filter for full synthetic oils. I went cheap this time because I just want to get the engine feeling a little better after not having fresh oil for over a year! However, my oil pressure gauge is jumpy now and it wasn't like that before. So while at idle, the pressure reads 40psi, but when I start to drive it jumps to 60psi. Just wondering what everyone else has experienced and if I should take out any more oil.

Just to clarify, I definitely did read the manual haha. But I just wanted to check with you guys to see what your normal pressures and oil levels were. If all else fails, check the dipstick I guess! Haha

Your oil pressure gauge is a lie anyway. You only have an oil PSI switch that looks for about 12 psi. Above 12 psi, the PCM makes up a reading for the gauge to trick the owner that GM actually spent the couple extra bucks on a real pressure sender.

And what would posses you not to believe that Owners Manual for your vehicle when it came to oil capacity? You think the manufacturer is trying to trick you? :|

Your V6 didnt take 7 quarts, so a inline 6 shouldnt?

Look at the length of a V6 and compare it to a I6... inline has a tad bit more of a crankshaft that needs to be oiled. Hell even the GM LS motors take 6 quarts, so I'm surprised out I6 doesn't take like 8-9
