Oil life monitor reset?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by KE7WOX » Sat Feb 20, 2010 10:09 pm

Does anyone know how to reset the oil life monitor on an 04 TB with the DIC? I've found some tricks on the internet but they're confusing or won't work.

Thanks

EDIT: I has fixed it!
Fix: As other people mentioned, scroll thru the DIC menu to the Oil life one, then press the select/enter button and hold it down until the CHG OIL light flashes and the oil life goes back to 100%. You must hold the button down for more time than you do to reset the odometers, probably half a minute or so, just wait for the light to flash.

here is a hint, it has to do with turning the key to the acc position and pressing the brake. Search the OS forum, or read the manual, or you can call your dealer......maybe even pay Roadie, just hope he doesnt see this thread hahaha

If you have a DIC, just scroll through the display until it shows the remaining oil life %. Then hold down the enter button for a few seconds.

If you're DICless, search the manual or the OS for the procedure. It involves the gas pedal, not the brake, but it's some multiple press kind of trick. I have a DIC.

But IIRC it IS in the manual.

Ya, gas pedal, I knew it was one of them.

Anyways I think you turn the truck to the ACC position, pres the gas pedal down 3 times within 5 seconds, and then there is some other step I am forgeting hahahaha. but anyways ya, thats the jist of it.

Yeah, I tried the gas pedal trick, but it didn't work for the DIC.

I think in the DIC you just go to the oil life monitor and hold down the button on ur steering wheel and it resets or something. Anyways I am sure this is something that you can google. Or pm Philberto and ask him nicely. He works at a dealership he may know.

I'll take a peek at the Techlink documentation tomorrow and let you know what I find... Hopefully I'll remember, since I'm supposed to be selling cars, not fixing them :shoot:

I did the hold select button and it worked, apparently i wasn't pressing it for long enough (takes much more time than it takes to reset the odometers or timer).
