Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

TB or Envoy with the 8.6in Rear end

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Hi all,
From all the reading I have been doing, I am under the impression that all of the TBSS and TB EXT, along with the Envoy XUV have the 8.6 rear end underneath. From that impression, I found an ebay ad for a GMC Envoy XUV rear end (ratio and locker not important, because I plan to regear it and put a Detroit locker in it), so I ordered it, but the one I received is the 8.0 in like the one I already have. :hissyfit: Did they send me the wrong one, or do the Envoy XUV come with both rear ends??? The ad didn't specify 8 or 8.6, but like I said, my impression was that the XUV all had the 8.6...

Someone please clarify if I need to get on them for pulling and sending the wrong one, or if I am mistaken and if so, how to ensure the next one I buy (after reselling this one) is the 8.6.

Thanks in advance!!!

Eric

Naturally, after posting this, I found the thread:

search.php?keywords=8.6+cover&fid%5B0%5D=72

In which there is an image of a stamp on the cover, which got me looking more closely at my new diff cover...

8.0 and 8.6 do indeed have identical (in appearance) covers, have to scrub and remove rust/dirt to see the stamp in the cover to verify.

Cheers!

Eric,

It looks like you found the 8.6" stamp on the outside of the new cover, an easy give away that it is indeed an 8.6" diff. See my response in the other thread if you have more questions.

Cheers,

Yeah, I looked at the cover when I got the pallet, didn't see the stamp until I saw that other post and got out some 220grit and the air gun...
