Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Rear main seal

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Hello everyone, I'm new to off road tb but have visited several times before joining. I'm currently replacing my transmission and want to replace the rear main seal while it's out. Do I need a special tool to replace the seal or can it be done with it. I can't seem to find any dyi or videos on the 4.2l. Some where i read just pull the old seal out and put the new one in, but it doesn't say if it takes a special tool or not. Thanks

I did mine with the engine out on a stand. I don't think we used any special tools. Just ripped out the old one and put the new one in. But beware, it will probably come in a plastic container, and that plastic container will be the installation tool. It was pain to try and get it to go on right, so be careful.
