Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

New to the Forum. Here is my setup (Pic). Update: Lift Done

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

05 LT 4WD G80
Bilstein HD
MarkMC 1.5" Spacer/Adapter 6x5 to 6.5
2015 17" Silverado Wheels (I have not seen these wheels on another TB)
265/70/17
151k

And you know what it needs right away...that lift!

I have the MarkMC 2.5" lift being installed by a local shop Thursday (Will update this post). I do have a few concerns if anyone has any experience.

My Lift Concerns based on Research:
CV Boot Leaking - I have read that at the time the lift is installed, I should replace the boot clamps.
Alignment - I am worried about the camber being off, I have read to flip the UCA in order to get the proper alignment.
Stress on Hub/Bearings - I have read these will wear out much faster.

Some. The assemblies are relatively inexpensive and easy to change. Buy a pair to have on hand.

CV boot leaking - I had the shop that installed my lift add large hose clamps on top of the stock clamps, and have had no problems since the lift about 18 months ago.

Alignment - Mine aligned just fine after the lift, without flipping/swapping the UCA, and the ball joint angle still looks good. I think this is needed more often with the 3" lift.

Stress on hubs/bearings - One hub needed replacement at the time I had the lift done, and is still good, the other was replaced about 2 months ago, but was the OEM, with 200,000 km (120,000 miles) on the odo, so probably would have been at the end of its life anyway.

Excellent Info! Thanks for the reply.

I already planned to have the shop put on new clamps.

I guess well just have to wait and see!

The hubs don't really get any more stress from a lift. They get more stress from tire and wheel changes (offset, diameter, mass).

They are also affected by the odd load angles that they get when off-roading.

They are most affected by water crossings. Nothing will kill a wheel bearing faster than a little water ingress past their seals.

LIFT IS INSTALLED:
I don't have a real nice pick of my lift (weather is bad), but I thought some technical photos might help some people.

Now to fix my 4WD, which is apparently now broke: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6801

Photo 1: Ball Joint sitting the ground. Sometime in the future I will probably flip the UCA.

Image

Photo 2*: I still had to cut away to fit the 265/70/17.I had to hammer this in a bit too.

Image

Photo 3*: The front wheel well cut.

* Really surprised I had to still cut after the lift. Geez. I actually replaced the black nuts with stainless screws, just in case the tire does hit it, it won't tear up the tire as bad.

That is surprising. I'm guessing its due to low backspacing wheels?

I am not really sure why. Seems crazy to me.

1.5 spacers. And 30 offset wheels.

That offset is pretty much the closest I could find in an oem wheel.

Aftermarket, forget it. Nothing close to the 50 offset of the stock wheel.
