Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Bolt sizes? Newb ?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

I am going to do the lift on the tb on Friday. It's going to be raining here so I am
going to do the work at my buisness in the storage bay(my home garage is full of my other hobby motorcycles).

I was wondering. What in all bolt sizes are involved in the job. Are they metric or standard. I don't want to be driving back home for a socket that I missed.

Any help would be great.

Most lifts use SAE size hardware. The vehicle is all metric, but some large sizes like 22mm are needed to get the struts off, IIRC. Just bring them all.

Interesting factoid: Most domestic manufacturers used SAE fasteners in their vehicles until the US Military changed their requirements to include metric fasteners on any vehicle made for the military, probably to aid maintenance overseas. It was at this point that the major manufacturers, especially GM, switched their entire lines over to metric to meet this standard.

22 mm is the largest metric size you'll need, and you'll also want an Allen wrench set, as well as some of the more common standard and metric open-end wrenches.

I say a trip to Harbor Freight is in order, your one-stop shop for tools you thought you had or didn't know you needed to complete a job.

Gotcha... On our vehicles, fasteners are pretty standard, though you may want to pick up a set of Torx sockets, as I've discovered that domestic vehicles like to use them in odd places. Make sure you have up to T-60 just to be safe.

Well I am going to guess the Allen wrench for the swaw bar end link on the front is a 7mm. Am I correct cause I have all but that one and none of them fit.

Yep. 7mm. But mostly folks don't succeed with them unless they soak the nut in PB Blaster for a week before starting the project. It almost always strips out - so just get out the air cutoff tool and destroy the old ones.

I never had any problems with mine... must be the Southern California lack of rust.
