Stabilitrac Activation after larger tires?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by PROSPHOTO » Thu Jun 02, 2016 9:37 am

After my lift plus 32"tires, I'm feeling the Stabilitrac kicking in around turns over 10mph or so. I'm guessing this is a normal occurrence, but if annoying has additional information/experience I would spirochaete heating about it. I'm not getting any warning lights or a message that is kicking in, just feeling the activation through the abs. Normal?

Yeah, I get more of the activation with the larger tires. What tires are you running? I had Duratracs for a minute, and it would seriously activate with those all the time, because of the tall/soft tread causing the rear to slide/drift around a bit and the yaw and steering sensors to not agree. I can still do it while hard braking in a turn with the BFG KO2's, but it's not nearly as bad as with the Duratracs.

I have the Duratrac 255/75R17's... Just going to get into the habit of deactivating on dry pavement

Happens all the time to me. Never had a problem with the traction control coming on in the front before the lift and tires. I just think its because I'm driving too fast though... But I have Yokahoma Geolander 265/70/17s.

Mine engages off-road but never really on-road. Mine has pretty much been the same with 30.5, 32s, and 33s with the even with the front locker.

Mike, were the Duratracs the tires that were so soft they actually slip on the rim and are hard to balance

I don't know; got them as a package deal on the wheels from discount tire direct. They are very soft tires definitely!
