4x4 Disconnect Busted... Now What???

Got the USpowertrain AWD unit in today. Just bolted it up, now just gotta run by the store and grab another CV shaft cause this one has deep grooves in it from where the bearings were destroyed.ImageImageImage

(not to mention the fact that gears are heat-treated, and welding on them takes out the heat treat)

was it necessary to put a new CV shaft? the grooves will prevent sealing even though they are behind the outer seal ?

Yes, I bought a new one to replace it with. It might have still worked, but I didn't want to risk it.
