Bench seat in A Trailblazer!?!?!?!

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by inkythekid » Wed Feb 24, 2016 1:49 pm

so I have searched. and searched. and searched. and just cannot find a single person that has put a bench seat in the front of their trailvoy. Does anyone besides me think this is possible?? It has to be, and I'm definitely willing to do some cutting to fit one in. But I have no clue what bench seat from another truck might fit in, opinions??

Anything is possible, airbag might be an issue if you got em in the seat.

Do some measurements, find something from a donor vehicle that's close, rip out the center console, and make sure there's still room for the shifter and parking brake and show us how it's done.

Do you have any Vehicles in mind that might match the front bolt dimensions? I know the seat is going to have to sit a couple inches back to allow space for the shifter. But my Idea on that is cutting the center console to where it disappears under the new bench seat. Maybe a Colorado seat? Or regular cab silverado? I can fab some spots on the seat frame to where it would reach all of the original bolts. Not worried about colors matching because seat covers are cheap :D My main reasons for this project is for when I pick up the whole crew of 6 including me. And the girlfriend wants me to build a bench seat in so she can sit closer and take naps in the front seat with me, and what she says goes  Tonight when I get home Ill get dimensions so that maybe someone can help find a seat somewhere close to them :D

I think you're unlikely to find anyone that has done it. Your gonna be flying solo on this one.

find a late 80s Crown Victoria, grand marquee, or town car. the split bench should be easier to work with
its a 60/40 split

Once you get your measurements go hit up the junkyard and see what is close. You might even pull your seats to see how the tracks work and bolt up.

But most of them were worn out 10 years ago :-)
I had an 88 5 speed with the D44, loved that thing. It got tight one Christmas and I sold it., sniff..sniff.

Wonder f something like a Dakota would be close?

Bust out the tape lol.

In all seriousness, my Father is disabled, has a prosthetic right leg, and he drives with his left. He prefers vehicles with benches so he can throw his prosthetic over the the passenger side. His current DD is a 4Runner with a Tacoma bench in it, which was an easy swap, but the width is probably close to a TB as well.

So from edge of seat to edge of seat the length is 62" Now all I need to do is find a bench seat that short/long. Im going to pullapart in memphis so Ill have every possible bench seat there is at my fingertips. Just wondering which ones I should look a first. The colorados are what Ill check on first. But what after that?

You could even pull the seats/console out of a tb while there and set the replacement in and see how it fits before purchase. Toll be saved ng someone the trouble later of pulling them.
