Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

CV removal tool

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

A friend of mine showed me an interesting tool he bought for removing his CVs in his FJ Cruiser, which basically are installed the same way as ours. I just ordered one and will chime back with how well it works on our platform. I see it working much better than getting under and driving it off or prying it off.

It's an interesting idea. Seems like it would pull on an angle though.

Also seems like it would be rough to get the necessary impact to pop it out. Interesting idea though.

I'll stick to my old reliable piece of rebar or jack handle and a 2.5lbs sledge.

I tried something similar a few months ago. I used a ratchet strap, looped one end around the inner tripot, hooked other end to front d ring (used strut as a redirector for the strap to give it a relatively straight pull). Put some tension on it, tapped on the disco a few times with a small hammer and it popped right out.
