Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

need help choosing parts for front end lift

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by jbtb2002 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 5:02 pm

Hi, I already have the z71 springs and bds shocks for the rear, I was wondering what the part number is for the bilstein hd struts people are using.

(And the coil spacers
1.5" in back and "3 front)
That should make it a level lift correct?

Also what about replacing the spring in the front since I am doing the struts anyway, its an '02 so they're 13 years old.

I really want to make sure I'm not going to be in danger of the lift parts up front messing with the ball joints

Some of the factory springs seem to be discontinued. I've personally ordered the MOOG 8114 which seems to be between an 85 and an 86 as far as rate.

I ordered my struts from summit, but they're on back order there, you may want to check shock warehouse.

As of last report the more popular 87s were available again, unfortunately there are a significant number of posts showing the period they were unavailable

Indeed, they show them in stock. I may cancel the entire Summit order, since none of it has shipped in 4 days (unusual for Summit BTW)

Bilsteins are backordered. I've been waiting for the better of a month now for shipping updates. Summit keeps pushing my ship date back and well, shockwarehouse is just there with my money.

We have seen a serious issue with bilsteinHDs, they aren't anywhere it would appear. The GM springs should be good to go though... 87s and 88s.

Thank you guys so much for the links, very helpful!

What is the thing with the spring color? I've only seen black front springs on trailblazers

Some have colored tags that correspond to the spring's part number, although mine just had tags with the part number itself.

Bilsteins are on national backorder until the end of the month...at least that's what I got from shockwarehouse yesterday.

Just for an update. I ordered my Bilsteins January 10th. At this point, I estimated shipping date is now March 25th. It has been killing me waiting. Last thing I need to lift and my Envoy is down because of bad tires...which I need the lift to buy. Its been agony.

On a lighter note, I did my buy struts from CarID.com. I only paid 57 a piece for them.

Please let me know when you actually get them. I've been focusing on other things for the time, but I definitely want to grab a set when they become available
