Transmission shudder in overdrive

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

I wouldn't rebuild unless it was trashed. But that's just me. If you do rebuild it's not much to swap out the parts to 4L65 or even 4L80 parts. http://www.4l60-e.com/

P.S. Yeah I dropped the ball on not changing the filter. But I'll be doing it's this weekend.

Sorry I've been a little absent on this but I found this kit on ebay, might be ordering it tomrrow. I know the shudder is taking a wear in the pump.

Same one I used. I referenced James install thread a number of times, there's a lot of good info there. Between the two of our write ups I'd think anyone with a lil patience could install it.

I ordered the sk4l60e kit that came with a few upgrades but I didn't realize there were different firmness you can have. Which one did you go with? Im think of going with level two. Image

I don't recall what I did. I was likely somewhere in the middle to less firm side. I had some issues in the past with adjusting the firmness up too far and the transmission overreacting somehow. Now I tend to shy away from too firm.

After dropping the pan last week and was about to install the kit, come to find out somehow my trans pan magnet disappeared and there was some shavings in the filter and a little on too of the filter (the fluid was a nasty brown). I decided to go ahead have the transmission tebuilt.

My question is anyone is, is it still ok to install the pervious I bought or is it pointless, is it a good idea to upgrade to a higher stall torque converter, and is there any other upgrade you guys might suggest.

When it get's rebuilt just ask em to toss the shift kit in. It's not much extra labor at that point and it'll still firm up the shifts.

You can do whatever you want with the stall. I wouldn't change it higher personally, but I know there's others that'll argue the point.

True. I won't have it rebuilt till the middle of next month (hopefully the transmission will hold up till then). After seeing the shavings I had the filter blowed out good and fresh fluid out back in. As for the torque converter stall I believe stock is 1600-2100. I was thinking maybe going up to 2200-2400 to help with the tries (treadwright tires 55lbs a piece), and for when I'm towing.

Just to give an update. I got the transmission rebuilt with a custom shift kit and some Sonnax parts and beefed up clutches and sunshell. Found out the problem was the torque converter.
