I was coming home on the highway tonight about 10 minutes from home and my engine light popped on and stayed on,the owners manual is pretty vague saying when it comes on it`s an emissions issue. My TB is an 06 with 69k on it just looking for a starting point to check out when it`s daylight tomorrow Thanx >JA

You should buy a code reader so you can plug into the diagnostic port and get the specific code. Every group of buddies should have one who owns a reader so you're never at the mercy of a mechanic who will charge you as much to read one code as the reader will cost. Then you Google for the code.

^ I have two, one I loan out to friends when needed for a small fee, and my personal one (which can read ABS, the other can't ). Invest in one if you plan on owning a vehicle. They're reasonably priced.

Stop by Auto Zone, Advanced, etc. and get them to read the code for you in the mean time. It's free, and they'll give you a brief description of the problem as reported by the computer. Then, go home and google it. Chances are, there's a solution somewhere on there (ahem, cough cough, not naming sites).

Here's one that's about as expensive as a few bottles of good Liquid Arrogance.

These days you can even get OBDII dongles that interface with your smartphone.

Also, if the manual points to emissions, make sure your gas cap is closed tight.
This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

The guys are pointing you in the right direction, get the code(s) read and write them down then google what the issues point to and we should be able to help with a solution.
