Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

When not on the trial I have had my spare tire in the back mounted vertically on the left side using the tie downs with two ratchet straps. This was working ok for the most part unless the back seat needed to be down and it would fall over. I needed a better way. So looking around under the back seat I found that one of the seat supports had a hole in it that the hook of the ratchet strap fit in.

Image

Ran the strap under the back cover.

Image

Installed small D bracket on the rear pillar.

Image

Cut out some plastic.
Image

Took three straps to keep it from moving when the back seat is down but it is working good.

What a busy day! I kicked off the afternoon with just an oil change and then started to tackle the rear axle. After removing both half shafts and inspecting the bearings I decided to replace just the passenger side. After reassembling the rear axle and topping it off with oil I replaced the drivers side seal and oil in my front differential. From here I went over and inspected /re-greased my disconnect just to be sure. Oh, and on top of all of this I did a tire rotation.

It was a pain in the ass but at least I now have peace of mind and a properly running truck.

Put the fogs on top of the truck. They look tiny...

But they put out some very nice light - This is with the driving covers on and no headlights

Tracked down my PS fluid leak to this pesky little debris/moisture catcher.

Luckily it was the return side so I used 5 bucks worth of 3/8" fuel line and a couple of clamps rather than paying 50 for an OEM type. I tie strapped the small leftover piece around the high side line to keep it off the fender well.

(spent the difference on these) :drool3:

Loaded my family into the "blue bus" and hauled them to my wife's family Christmas Eve dinner get together, where I ate too much and hugged all the pretty ladies.:-)

So a while ago after I bought the Tundra, towed it home (Cleveland Oh.- mid-Wis), totaled it, had a rear end put in... found that I had a blown rear shock (skyjacker 7000). Replaced both rear with 8000 nitros. Now it sounds like something is super lose in the back. I went back and hit em with the impact gun. Its a little better. It wont tighten any more and still sounds loose. Any ideas? Also I got the Micky Thompson rims back from powder coat. Super happy, except when he blasted them, it took off enough material, that it is no longer stamped MT. I will get a couple photos tonight or tomorrow (they arw out in the shop and not on the truck because I need fender flares.

Took it out of the garage and drove it around the block to circulate fluids, lube surfaces, and got it up to temp then put it back in the garage. Haven't drove it since October, it's nice not having to worry about salt eating it anymore.

When I bought my TB many years ago I installed a front guard. It was rusty and weak. It was time to do something stronger.

You can see the difference.
Image

I welded bigger pipe instead old one.
Image

This is a work in progress but it look really stronger than original one. I need to replace the middle piece too and fix it on the frame like Karo did.
Image
Image

I'm doing this to install a winch w/o expensive steel bumper. I think it's will be enough strong for me.

Today I got a set of adaptors in the mail. So I did what any normal person would do and test fitted them with a set of 2014 Silverado wheels and tires. Tires are 265/60r18. I also noticed while I had it on the lift the front shocks started leaking. (Time for some bilstein parts) and a lift!

This thing is awesome, solid construction, installed and wires ran in about 45 mins.
Instructions are on par as well, Pictures and detailed written instructions for every step
although its pretty straight forward, still nice to have.
well worth the $$$ :thumleft:
