Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

Washed it and fixed a rattling sway bar link.

Looks real good Robert, I think you'll be very happy with their grip. Went with the white letters out?

Getting new 35x12.50r15s BF Goodrich A/ts put on. And just ordered Mark's 3" lift for the front to upgrade from the 2.5" I've got on it now.

I am old school like that with white letters out. So far I like them with the little driving I have done so far. :safari:

Had the TC drained and refilled, along with LOF at a dealership. At least now I know when the TC was serviced, as I had no records when I bought the truck. Next on the to-do list is left UBJ, as the mechanics report stated that it's loose. That probably explains the occasional clunk when going over speed bumps.

got the radflos on. so much better. less body roll than the stock spring, no clunking from a broke strut. leveled out the truck but i think i like a little rake. the front sits 1-1/2" higher at rest. i think I'll drop it 3/4" to get it where i like.

Nothing that would make it better off-road but did black out my chevy emblems and polished the headlight lenses.

If you decide to go this route, have a look at my picture folder: http://sourpuss.net/projects/vehicles/trailblazer/front_bumper/
Mike provided a lot of info on the internal reinforcements, and I just winged the rest of it. I would suggest taping over your fenders while working on the fit, I scratched the hell out of my paint. And if you raise the clearance from the stock bumper, then plan for a mounting point to add a radiator skid. I only have about $400 in raw materials used to build mine, but it took a LOT of time to cut and weld everything together. I'm happy with how it turned out, but I don't know if I would want to do it again.

OMG your bumper is sick. You did a great job. You should pass a lot of time to do it from nothing.
I'm drawing mine with sketchup and autocad and I try to figure how it will fit. I'm using some foam core and paper as a template. For now I'm trying to find a local business to do the pieces at fair price.

Looks pretty nice Marc.

Where did you get the fender and grill models? The grille looks a bit too wide though, based on the fender locations.

Monday the rig got new diff fluid, new TC fluid, part of broken exhaust hacked off, new wheel bearing, and told me it wanted new lower control arms so they got ordered
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

Thank,

It's true the grill isn't perfect but it was just to know the clearance with the winch. I prefer use a bigger grill than have a surprise at the end.
I got the fender in a 3D model in Sketchup. I had to modify some part but it was useful.

But I had to use a lot of template like this one to do my model. I'm pretty proud of it, but I want to see it on my rig now. I'm still waiting for the pieces.

Very cool. Can sketchup export models into other formats? Like IGS or STEP? I'd love to have that trailblazer model in a usable format for me.

I found this on their site, not sure what you have access to, but it can do autocad at least, from there it should be easy to get to .IGES or .STEP
