Ah, those are hella 4000s, they have been there for years.

I'll need to get a proper camera out to do a good night shot comparison.

Spent the last couple of days working on the transmission, added the B&M cooler, changed the transmission oil and filter, and got the deep pan with drain plug. Spent today discarding the non-functioning Cobra CB, and added a really old functioning radio shack cb.

I replaced my Detroit Axle front hub bearing on the passenger side. It lasted 8 months and 13,000 miles. I suppose you get what you pay for. It only took me 60 mins of work time to replace the bearing and both sides front brake pads. I suppose it's not too bad.

Went to Big-O yesterday to replace my Bigfoot A/T tires. Only 32k on a 50k tire, so I expected a decent pro-rating. They are also having a sale on that tire -- $100 on a new set. So I show up and the guy checks my mileage, and I ask him if they're still on sale, which he confirms. Great!

"So which discount did you want to apply, the sale, or the pro-rating?"

Uhh... what? "Well I can only apply one discount to the price." The pro-rating is not a discount, that's the warranty on the tires. You're telling me you won't honor the warranty if I want to take advantage of the sale price?

So we went around for a bit on that. He finally agreed to drop the $64 installation cost, but I'm still not happy that this was even a point of contention. Final cost was $533 which is MUCH better than the even grand I paid last time (apparently there was some kind of tax on tires which maxed out at 35% in 2011 before expiring). This is the first time I've ever had a claim for pro-rating, so I don't know if this is typical or if the guy was really trying to screw me.

OK ok, here are a few comparison pics from a little exploration run the other night.

The big problem is that they illuminate the windshield a good bit and can make it a bit tricky to see if the windshield is dusty. Need to make some visors for the lights.

Spent Wednesday putting in the Z71 Tahoe coil springs in the rear. :excited: Also fixed high lift mount, finished installing the new (old) CB, and added the new ax mount. Party time!

Wow James those are very nice very good pattern. I'd assume the pictures are in this order. Led, Hella 4000 then HB. Looking at led photo I don't think the Hella's will do much with them along with the led on.

The middle is high beams (there are captions). I should have done the hellas too, they are a very good beam.

That's what I get for using tapatalk for a quick read. They don't show up for what ever reason.

James, I'm guessing you don't run quad highbeams? Any reason why? I'm really surprised more people don't make the mod, it's a huge improvement for a 50-cent part.

No good reason. Just have never really felt like I need more than what I've got. The high beams on this truck are really pretty good. Plus isn't there some legality questions about running quads on the road?
