Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Anyone use the torque pro app?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

So I have access to a samsung galaxy S 2 and got the pro version and loaded the GM PID's to read the tranny temp with my elm327. However the read out is just at 32 deg F and does not move. Is there a issue with elm327, the sensor or something else.

32 degrees Celsius would make more sense, but if it says 32 degrees F, I've got to ask what the outside temp is and how long the vehicle has been running?

What does it say for method 2?

I switch temps to F, both methods were the same and I drove around for little while maybe 10-15 min. Coolant was at 190-195.

Wow, that is odd. I would say that more troubleshooting would be needed before one could say either way. Which adapter are you using?

Do you know anyone else with an adapter?

Try looking for other weird readings, I would think that if the problem lied with the adapter, you might get problems with other readings.

Why are you using an adapter for iOS with an android?

Do you get the same readings with the iPad as you get with the droid?

Nope no option for tranny temp, reason I am trying the droid phone.

Only one of the methods worked for me. Try the other one.

Well, I'm pretty well-versed with my adapter, phone, and app, but I'm by no means any kind of expert.

However, I have the same results between both methods.

Ok after some fiddling I got the app to read the tranny temp using GM method 2. However the temps reading seemed low was around 114 deg F, does sound right cause coolant was around 195. Looking at the PID I seen in the equation A-40. This does seem right to me so I removed the -40 but just am not sure if it should be something else. Did some searching but did not come up with anything. After a 40 min drive temp ranged between 190 - 203 deg F assuming it is right. Other that use this app please chime in.

I don't like 200 degree tranny temps, personally. Mine got up to 210 on a particularly warm afternoon so I'll be installing a transmission cooler soon.

That sounds like the same thing I'm seeing. Takes a little while for the temperature to get up to anywhere close to engine coolant temperature.

I see the same thing with the scangauge, the tranny takes a bit longer in cooler weather to get up to temp.
Seems like I have maxed out in the 180s most of the cooler months.

Why did you change? For units? You can change that as an overall preference to show *F

Because I did not believe it but easy to set back. Tranny cooling lines go through radiator to get fluid up to operating temp faster so if coolant is around 190 - 195 the tranny fluid should be near that not 40 deg cooler. But maybe the new cooler I installed is cooling that low but I don't see how it because it has a built in bypass.
