Was the engine warm prior to starting the trip? That can make a huge difference. That and wind direction...

Very odd, I checked my gas mileage on a trip yesterday and I got 222.3/12.12 = 18.34 mpg at mostly 70mph with cruise.
The past few times I had gotten just under 16mpg.
It must have been the rain reduced tire friction or something because I don't think anything else has changed.

Or maybe the rain lubed up your truck and you had less wind friction or the heat expanded your gas tank so it held more and you actually got the same mpg, or maybe you have been watching too much NASCAR and were drafting other cars, Was the trip down hill both ways?.....

Any way I wish I got that good of gas mileage.

I haven't seen our average highs inwhile. Since the new tires went on, we're down back around 18mpg. Although haven't done much highway either.

Will mention, the car has no backseat or spare. Total weight saved is around 220lbs if I recall. We weighted the seats one piece at a time.

one thing is in the past I would fill up before the trip and then after the trip.
I usually run ~70 there and ~78 on the way back(in a hurry to get home).
This time I filled up again when I got there so it could be that when I check the mileage after running ~78 all the way back that it is poor.

I filled up while there because my gas gauge is on the blink and I didn't want to take any chances.

Ok I have a question! are all these adjusted mpg's or are the from the vehicle's computer. I know mine is off with the larger tires @265/75/17. I just took the resonator off and with a K&N FIPK and AirRaid throttle body spacer I was getting 12 after the delete of the resonator I am getting 14.1. These numbers are not adjusted with scan gauge.

I get around 14-15 mpg highway and 11-12 mpg city, on 285/75/R16, ~3" lift, new E3 spark plugs, and roof rack w/ tire on top. Need a tune up, though!

3.73 gears 32inch tires, town 14, hwy 22. added a cold air intake think i gained 3 or 4 mpg, never really kept track too much before.

Just got back from a weekend in the mountains, on the highway was pulling 17.3, and after offroading most of the day, 13.4. Calculated by gallons used by filling up/mileage plus 13% tire size difference. 3.73 gears on 35x12.5x17 tires.

I ran a full tank (24 gallons) of non ethanol premium thru my tb and got just a hair over 14mpg that tank, then went back to normal ethanol added mid grade. Since then I'm averaging 13.4mpg. I'm gonna run another tank of non ethanol soon to see if it's a fluke or maybe it just cleans everything out real good.

Filled up yesterday 11mpg Mostly city driving. Not bad considering this was with the Lift and 265/70/17s. When I last filled it up it was stock and I got 11mpg.
