slider install

Gents
Recently purchased a set of Mike's "wife proof" slider steps. I have an envoy and was curious on the community's opinion on removing the rocker covers vs. Cutting them behind the front wheel well and in front of the rear. If I was in the Sw or socal I'd favor removing but live in VA and am concerned about spray. It appears that the lower weatherstripping is attached to the top of the cover.

No plan for a body lift. Any thoughts from the experts? Many thanks.

It's all personal preference really. I don't know that removing the covers is necessarily better than cutting them.

I went ahead and removed the rocker covers and installed a set of Mike's "wife proof step" sliders. They're welded on with scabs and reinforced. I'm satisfied with the results. Now I need a bumper and skid...I've been running a stock bumper and curt hitch for tow points and radiator protection. The joy of owning an envoy.
