Completed Mod: Suspension Limiting Straps

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

When I put in the new axle, I opted against putting in the sway bar right away, as I wanted to test the ride with no sway bars connected. I didn't remember, however, that I was now running IrishBoy's properly valved but strangely too long BDS 9500 rear shocks. At full extension, the spring was loose enough to move around, limiting factor being the brake lines...

I picked up a set of Pro Comp limiting straps to help with this. They are 26" straps that I mounted at the shock mounts. This limits the shocks to 26" of travel, which is what BDS states is the actual limit of the proper size 5500s and 9500s. This amount prevents the brake lines from being the limiting factor and keeps the spring much more secure. Now that I don't have to worry about a spring unseating... I can finally drive the truck a little more "spiritedly" to really test the ride without sway bars. Prior to straps, I have enjoyed the ride thus far.

I notice the strap droops into the hub area. I have an idea for this... I was going to life the truck, extending the straps, then use a zip tie at the top of the shock body to hold the strap against the shock at the highest possible point. This will prevent overall droop and will keep the slacked area of the strap well out of harms way.

Looks like they'll be solid. I'll be interested to see if the zip tie fix works.

Im getting ready to add some limiting straps, did your zip tie fix work? I was thinking of high strength rubber bungy cords to pull the straps in tword the center when they are not flexed. Just wanting to keep options open
