Air Conditioning Problem

Something not working right?

by staticfusion » Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:16 pm

Hey fellas, in my 2002 Trailblazer, an issue as come up with the air conditioner. After a long and frigid winter, I attempted to blast my AC, problem is, it is blowing hot air. The strangest thing is, is that it is only blowing how air out of what I would say are the two driver vents as shown in the picture below (not my TB just example found via google).

Any help would be welcome, I really am not looking forward to a summer of hot air inside and out. The sooner the better would be nice!

Thanks

Looks to be a problem with the dual climate control switch... seems that the hot air is only coming out the driver side vents, and cool air should be coming out the passenger side ones. This is a question for Bill or James to answer.

I think Mario is having the same problem.

Do you have the digital climate control?

Bad actuators. Did you loose battery at all during winter? I have the manual control unit. I need to replace at least 2 actuators, maybe 3. I'm not getting air out of the lower vents and I'm unable to properly control hot/cold air from the upper vents...

Maybe just one bad actuator. Both kinds of systems have the same five actuators. You just have a bad driver's temp unit. Plenty of discussion on the OS.

What usually goes bad is the airflow mode actuator, which is why I edited its part number into my drawing here:

So I have searched the OS and this one, and I am figuring that it is the same part number for the mode actuator for all year models? 04' TB GM#89018675? If so, I am going to have my wife go buy the part, and when I get home next week, I will install it. She just got quoted 500$ to fix it from a local mechanic!
Lift, shocks, wheels and tires installed...need some armor now.

I've heard that one of my part numbers is wrong for 2002, and you can confirm it at compnine.com if you're worried.
