On the passenger side, I'd just pull the splined disconnect. When I rebuilt mine I pulled it and the axle as a unit and it was pretty easy to get the axle out of it once it was off the truck.

When you have the pass side out, throw some grease in there for good measure.

Also, check the needle bearings to see what state they are in.

Has anybody investigated possible differences between the "round" tripod housings and the "triangular" tripod housings? It occurred to me recently that binding at extreme droop travel may be different between the two. I can do some testing but wanted to check to see if it was old news already before I did.

I have not looked into the differences, but I imagine the limits would have direct relation to the size of the inner tripod (a scribed OD for the 3 bearings).

However, I would doubt there are any big dimensional differences between the Select and the OEMs/A-1s... that would require engineering, and I'd imagine Cardone is mainly just a copy company.
