Issues After Tranny Rebuild

Something not working right?

by TheHungriGerman » Sun Oct 25, 2015 11:53 am

Had anyone had an issue with the gear selector light like the line that shows what gear you're in. It works on every other gear even tho I'm in that specific gear. Also my 4lo wont engage but my 4hi and A4wd engages. I'm just wondering if it's and simple issue before I take it to the dealer for a computer update

Check your tranny neutral safety switch. I had to replace mine cause mine was doing the same thing. I'm 90% sure thats your problem. THis is what it looks like.

It wasn't going in 4lo and it would only show every other gear your in. Even though you're in that gear

Try playing with it some. I'm having similar issues after removal and reinstallation of my transmission. Right now, I'm having issues with mine stalling at a stop. In order to restart, I have to move the gear shifter out of drive slightly past neutral and then let it fall back into neutral to get it to let me restart. If I just move the shifter to neutral then it will indicate neutral but won't let me start.

This is why I believe you were having trouble with 4lo. If yours is showing signs of behaving this way, then it's definitely the switch on the shift linkage. :thumleft:

It was Def the neutral safety switch. The harness for the switch actually had a frayed wire.
