Something not working right?

by That1Guy » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:15 pm

So, yesterday I get back from the trails, had noticed a little bit of a tick in the motor, decided to check the oil, and guess what? I was down almost 2 full guarts!  so I start to look around where I park, nothing, look around the engine bay, not a whole lot other than right here.

That sure doesnt seem to be 2 quarts of oil, so im starting to think I have an excessive amount of blow by. Hopefully this week I will be able to do a compression check and try and figure out what the culprit is :hissyfit:

Doh is right. When was the last time you changed fluids, just to gauge how quickly it might be leaking/burning?

Probably three months ago. I understand a little burning/seepage is normal, but out of a car with 65k miles, 2 quarts in 3 months seems quite excessive. Oh and I checked fluids about a month and a half ago and it was just very very very slightly below the full mark

I have 5k more miles than you, and I'm not even burning a half-quart during my oil change intervals... my recommendation and SOP for our shop for leak-checking... clean the engine really good and then drive around for a bit to see what's leaking out of where.

Yeah, Ick. Call me if you don't have a pressure washer over there, and you can use mine.

I have a little seepage there as well, but maybe a 1/2 qt, at the most, in six months.

I have a pressure washer, but what I think I will do is before work one day got to the DIY car wash down the street and get the whole car real good and get rid of all that mud while Im at it.

This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.
