It would make sense with what you're seeing, though...

just tried that. Still nothing. I even broke a socket trying to turn the crank.

I'm going to try trans/t-case in neutral next.

Still won't turn in neutral, and I can push the truck back and forth in neural.

Drained the oil, and it has a milky swirl and is full of metal flake. You can see all the metal with a flashlight, looks like glitter.

Check the oil? Take apart the oil filter? Are there any metal flakes?
Seems bizarre for a motor to just seize like that with no prior symptoms.

Edit:

Oh no :(

Strange it let go with no warning at all. Dave, you need to stop screwing around and just get a trailblazer/envoy.

Sorry to hear about the motor man. You gonna take it apart and see what happened?

Looks like my POS is getting a new heart.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-1 ... /overview/

My truck has a 2 bolt main L31. Summit has the 4 bolt main L31 for basically the same price as the 2 bolt main version. All new parts/assembly from GM Performance.

Keep in mind that the plan/intention is to get at least 5 more years out of the truck, or even longer. And my goal is not to simply slap a running motor in it and sell the truck.

I figure a used junk yard engine for 800-1000 is a big gamble. And it will probably nickle and dime me at all the wrong times. Head gasket here, intake gasket there, oil leak here. I have all the common stuff for these engines fixed on my engine, I don't want to spend more money to take 3 steps back and have to do all those jobs again at some point, if the motor would even last that long anyway.

Than there is re-manufactured long blocks from Marshall or ATK, which have shitty reputations, and if you read the descriptions, they basically slap new bearings in an old block, and reuse a lot of other parts. After the core and shipping, these options run 1500-1800.

Or I can have a new long block, from GM, slap my freshly overhauled intake manifold on it, my recently tuned up distributor in it, and my fly wheel, and be rolling with a new engine indefinitely for only a few hundred more dollars than questionable reman. I think that is the smart investment.

You don't have a POS, and I agree with the investment. BTY I think you should camo your truck. ;)

or you could sell your truck for ~$1000 and for about another $1000 buy a TB ;-).
I'm just kidding man, it sounds like a good plan.
