After TB clean...won't start

Something not working right?

by Chango » Sat Apr 12, 2014 10:46 pm

Alright...I cleaned my throttle body again, and forgot to disconnect the batt or pull the fuse. Put it back together, and started the trailblazer. It was then I realized I had not disconnected the batt. High idle, then down to 300 or so rpm,,spitting and sputtering (CEL,stabilitrac, and loos of power light on)
Disconnected the batt for a few min, then tried it again, all seemed fine after I reconnected and started it up. Took it down the road. Ran great till I hit about 3500rpm. It then lights came back on (CEL, stabilitrac, and loss of power) and dropped back down to 300 or so rpm.
Limped it home, turned it off. Now when I turn the key, I only get a CEL. Trailblazer will not even turn over. Do I need to do a PCM relearn? Or??

I would try pulling both PCM fuses and let it sit for 30-45 minutes

Need the code. Did you have the ignition on, such as to listen to the radio, at any time during the cleaning if the tb was electrically connected?

So apparently, not hooking up the tube under the air box will cause these issues. :wallbash: :wallbash: Went out this morning...sober.....and looked at what I did. Unhooked the batt, and pulled fuses. Waited about thirty and hooked back up. Started up but with a CEL. I dont have a reader so I'll have to go to Autozone or somewhere and read the code. Still has high(1000ish) idle. But I guess its still "learning".

I guess it goes into a "safe mode" or something when a drunk dummy does this and tries to run it?
Its a good thing I didn't start tearing down for the front diff install like I was thinking about last night....

No, by all means, you should have Chris. It would have been more entertaining than a simple hose left off.

Glad it was something simple for you though. Remember, start working on the vehicle before you start drinking. Reward yourself with the drinks during and after the work at a moderate pace until completed.

I was an eigth-mile from my place when I was busted. I guess they felt generous because I was only charged with P.I. Still though, it's not an experience that I would recommend to others. When you drink, lose your keys.

Alright, got my codes read.
P2119
P0507
P1516
All point back to the Tbody. All started last year when I got the P0507. Light would come and go. Cleaned Tbody and all was good.
Was getting a code again so I cleaned the Tbody again. This time I stupidly took off the plate inside to really "clean" it.(original post) Well apparently the plate is directional. If you put it back in upsidedown it will not close all the way and run like shit. And throw these three codes....

It would appear this whole time the error has been between the steering wheel and driver's seat....
