Sometimes these sort of issues are hard to trace. Corrosion can do strange things to circuits, and that's my bet here. You own a multimeter and know how to use it? Your first job will be to see if you are indeed getting a positive 12 volts to the light. Then check the ground wire at the light. If one is bad, that will indicate which half of the circuit to begin following. If both are showing good, the issue becomes trickier. That likely means a loose connection somewhere. Those are harder to trace.
