Parking Brake and ABS Brake Lights On After Axle Swap.

Something not working right?

by Cable810 » Mon May 13, 2013 1:08 pm

They just appeared sometime last week and have been on and off since then. There is only one code being thrown and thats C0238. I did some googleing and got this
As the wheel spins, the wheel speed sensor produces an Alternating Current (AC) signal. The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) uses the frequency of the AC signal to calculate the wheel speed.

SO I'm thinking that since the Gear change thats whats causing the ABS Light and the C0238 code. I didn't hook the parking brake back up so thats probally the cause for the parking brake light

Anyone have this issue after their swap?

Different gear ratio in the new rear end? I never had that problem, but I guess it's feasible. The VSS for early trucks is in the back of the t-case and it now is reading a different speed than the ABS sensors in the front.

I would try disconnecting the battery for a bit, as I'm 99% sure those are learned values.

Also, hook up your e-brake, slacker.

Yes. I swapped to 4.10s. I will try that.

Mine is doing the same. My e-brake is hooked up and working. ABS and e-brake light turn on after about 7 min of driving. Lights turn off with the motor, then back on after another 5-7 minutes. I also think it's a learned value, however I've disconnected battery already. Still doing it... Guess i just need to drive it more. No problem there.

Whats funny is this... yesterday I drove home with 4.10 in front, still 3.42 in rear. No ABS lights came on. Today, now that both match in 4.10, i'm gettin the lights.

Putting the 410s in front wouldn't change the ratio of transfer case output spins to the wheel speeds when in 2wd. However, changing the rear diff gears does.
