Curt Front Hitch - Trouble Fishing the Bolts

Something not working right?

by Blazintrails03 » Sun May 05, 2013 11:03 am

Took a little time and had to enlist the help of my sister's 07 cause i didn't take before pictures.

Here you can see the "before and after". The hitch tucks up nice and tighter than I expected.

And now for some crappy protection pictures. Sorry I didn't feel like breaking out the jack to I did my best on my back under the 2 TB's

No hitch on the 07

And some semi protection now under the 03

Is there a way to flip that bolt around? It being the lowest point is going to end up being all sorts of bad if you ever need to take it off.

You know I thought the same thing but this hitch has been through Mike Barton, Roadie, and Navigator and you can see scratches where the hitch has rubbed stuff but that bolt had no damage. It has been hit and bent a hair but great condition none the less. I had actually thought about getting under there with a sawzall and cutting it flush

I know each and every one of the scratches I put on that in my early 31" tire days. Before BDS lifts. While I still had a payment on the Roadiemobile. Getting nostalgic..... :coffee:

See how PRISTINE it was on Day 1.

I can't think of the correct term but the bolt head is inside the cross member tube with some kind of flat bar built into the bolt head so it will catch on the sides. If you turn it over, there is no way to tighten the nut.

Yeah definitely not that clean anymore at all. The Mike Barton autograph on the side is a nice touch though haha

You probably could make it happen but I imagine it would be difficult.

Roadie your picture reminded me. I haven't tried yet but did you ever have issues with your tires rubbing the 2 bolts on either side of the hitch. I'm planning on 31's max 32's

I think you're referring to a "blind bolt."

Mark uses them on the rear bumper brackets for his body lift.
