Bad vibration in 4x4 under acceleration

Something not working right?

Sears would not touch mine.

Firestone Lifetime Alignment. Yeah... it costs a little more up front, but completely worth it. Especially if you plan on doing any off roading like I do. Three times and its paid for. Just ask different ones if they'll do it. Some managers are cool, and some aren't. Learned from experience.

Firestone Lifetime Alignment is what I have. I'm almost positive the vibration will still be there after another alignment from my experiences, but you gotta start somewhere.

Ok I think i found a fix we all need a Transfer Case Lowering Kit but the bad thing is nobody makes one for the TB or call these guys and have them make a SPECIAL DRIVE SHAFT
http://www.4xshaft.com/ but you will need to dig deep into your pocket $400. for the drive shaft so bascley basically we are F--K

That would only work if your front diff and xfercase angles change (straight axle).
Since we are IFS it doesn't apply.

when did this vibration start?
did it start before/after a lift, any type of work, tires anything?
If the alignment is good it would seem as Mike said it has to be something that is only moving when in 4wd.
I didn't see that you confirmed the joints on the prop shaft are good. I know they are on the "wrong" side but maybe it just seems like it is coming from the right side.

Since so many people have had this problem for so long, has anyone noticed anything wierd as far as tire wear goes?

I personally think the vibrations are coming from the angles of our inner tripods on the cv shafts. They might be pulled to far out of the races giving them slop. When I get some free time I'll snap a video because I can actually see mine move out of a centered true rotation. When there is no power being applied to the front shafts they are free spinning and just float around.

If we were able to somehow extend the mid shaft between the joints ( via swapping in another vehicles mid shaft that's 1/2"/1" longer) that might fix the issue, or find a larger cup/ housing that will mate to our front differential.

All of mine are wearing normally. I was taking it for a drive around last night, found in A4wd, doesn't vibrate, so it's only when engine power is applied to the front. Maybe I'll check it in reverse...

Is this a vibration in the chassis or the steering wheel? Low speed, high speed, changes, constant?

You all are aware that engaging 4wd on pavement will change the toe angle, correct?

For me it's this...

Pre-lift - no vibrations whatsoever on pavement, dry or wet.

Post - lift and alignment - it feels to me like a driveline shudder and causes the front end to shimmy from side to side quickly. Dry, wet, 8" snow covered pavement. Felt in chassis and steering wheel up to 30mph or so.

In 2 hi, there is an ever so "slight" feeling of the shudder in the steering wheel, I had to really look for the feeling but its there.

Yea I'm not worried about the vibes in 2hi as they are barely felt and with flipped UCA's not much I can do about the caster. I have no bump steer so its not a problem. Here's my second to last alignment, my last one's print out was very light but took the toe closer to zero.

Image

I'll snap a video tomorrow of my cv shafts and hopefully will be able to see the shudder.

Since caster is out of spec, stability of the front wheels is lessened (the minor shudder in 2wd). I think this may magnify the effect of the change in toe when driving on pavement in 4wd.

My best guess.

I'm at 1.1 Caster Driver side and 2.4 Caster on passenger side.
I haven't noticed anything but I honestly can't recall the last time I have been in 4Hi running 25-30mph . Usually I am running <15mph when in 4hi.
In 2Hi no issues at all.
