Question=Easy Answer

Something not working right?

by bgwolfpack » Tue May 03, 2011 11:35 am

The idea of this thread is a place where Lurkers or guests can read through some often asked questions and get the answers without being laughed at. Where you ask the question and other members sight the answer.

Post a question here that should have a direct answer and see how long it takes to be answered!

Like…

Question: How do I empty my radiator?

Answer: The bottom hose of the radiator must be removed to allow fluid draining.

Just quote the 'Question' you know and answer it! Make sure you are correct though, you may be challenged!

Try it!

50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and use only DEX-COOL® Coolant.
4.2l = 10.8 qt
5.3l = 12.2 qt

The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a change engine oil light or CHANGE ENGINE OIL message being turned on, reset the system.

To reset the Engine Oil Life System, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
3. Turn the key to LOCK.

If the light/message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

I'm assuming this is for trucks without the DIC. On mine, all I have to do is cycle the DIC to display the Engine Oil Life, then hold down the bottom right steering wheel button until it reads 100% again.

Hmm, interesting. I'll have to try that, I have DIC, but the trick that Mario listed is what I've been doing.

Yes... my truck doesn't have DIC and the process in one is so simple that I chose not to mention it.

Distilled or RO water, only! Using otherwise is where radiator deposits come from...

You want ZERO minerals in your coolant water...
