Repair/Replace G80?

Something not working right?

So my G80 is not G80ing, lol.

In the tread of "mods you wish you wouldnt have done" I saw that fish repaired the diff only to destroy it a week later. Im thinking of an aftermarket locker/limited slip, but I'm kinda paranoid of my wife losing traction on turns/wet conditions. Im not really paranoid, but I just want to know all the facts before I compit to something.

I think its just the clutch plates, but they're pretty expensive from gmpartsdirect. I don't know if its just worth it to get an aftermarket that'll work better w/ less moving parts for about the same price.

If you just need clutch plates, I have some left over from my G80... I think I have a good governor/ratchet assembly as well.

You'll spend around $600 minimum for an 8.6" and a lunchbox locker.

I guess I need to open it up and see whats happening. It locks sporadically, but unfortunately, not when I really need it. Thats what leads me to guess its the clutch plates.
