Power steering stalling engine?

Something not working right?

by Hpimichael02 » Sun Feb 27, 2011 1:38 pm

Hey guys when my wheel is turned 80% in either direction at 1200rpm or less it will stall out the engine , is this normal cause the strain on the pump cause it to stop the belt or something ?? If this is not normal what may be causing this? Does anyone else have these issues ?

The iconic cleaning of your throttle body comes to mind. I did mine yesterday again after 20k miles. It was ready.

Do you get the telltale squeal of a dying power steering pump?

I wouldn't say it's a squeal more a mechanical sound

i was kinda getting the same thing, only truck didnt quite stall. only stuttered and kinda bogged down then rpm's went back up. also did it when ac compressor kicked in. i never had this issue till i replaced my alternator. from what i have read on trail voy its a common problem when you disconnect the battery and the computer resets itself back, and acts like you have a clean throttle body. like fish said try cleaning it good. i did and the problems were gone.
