Differential Seal Question

Something not working right?

by tbangert » Sat Jul 24, 2010 5:35 pm

Am I retarded or something? I went to napa to get the seal for my front diff where the cv axle goes in and its leaking, and they give me the wrong one.

What is the official name of this part, Im finding like too many names and i have it all apart and nothing new to put back in. Super frustrated right now.

You need to get it from the dealer. Bring your vin and they will find the exact part on the exploded diagram. It is called the drivers side front diff seal. They cost about $20 and they are annoying.

I've replaced mine with Napa seals with no problems. Easiest thing to do is bring them your old seal...

I brought the old one to Napa and the only thing they could find using the numbers off of the seal, was something for a tractor. Hmm, I got one from a local GMC dealership for $14 so not so bad.
