Help-header flange

Something not working right?

by irishboy02 » Sat Jun 26, 2010 3:25 pm

Can someone please run outside for me and measure the nut size on the exhaust manifold/header flange. Iv been running open headers since my swap and need to put my cat on (magnaflow stainless) which came in yesterday. During the process of my swap these bolts went missing. I have no problem with trial/error but its pretty hott to mess around with. It very easily accessable from the passenger side of the enginebay just look straight down and you cant miss it. I believe its either a 15 or 17 but i just need to double check with someone.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. BTW im the 4.2 not the 5.3

Let me know! I want to get this on asapppp

All I can access is the manifold cover... which is 10mm. Too hot to remove, but you could always wait for the pipes to cool down..........

i have no problem doing that but thatl take me about 3 days worth of trial and errors, thats why i figured id ask and see if anyone could help me. Everything on our trucks is either 10 or 15, esp with our exhaust. Im supposing a 15 but i just want to double check. No biggie thanks Phil

I get what you mean, and I'd be surprised if it was 17mm. My vote is 15 for the flange itself.

So, M8, 1.25" long apparently.

ETA... not 1.25"... sorry. 33mm long. The 1.25 is the thread pitch. Ooops!

All that sort of stuff is in the GM part number description in www.compnine.com

You normally need the thread diameter and pitch and length, not the hex socket size - to buy replacements.
