I have filled out my trip report to Turkey Bay, and posted video as proof. Could I PLEASE be moved from mall rated to trail ready? Thank you, very much.

OK, but you didn't read the entire instruction post, which says your request has to contain a link to the trip report. Just saves us a bit of time.

Here it is for completeness:

Hint - next time, leave the wife home if she has a vote, until you get more experience. I made the SAME MISTAKE and got us well and truly stuck. Cost me a motel stay to clean up. And a nice dinner. And some jewelery. And......

At least she agreed the Roadiemobile had to be built up after that. She just doesn't come with me a lot.

Probably should have requested it (or posted it  ) months ago, but now I have one solid trail documentation done (though it is a cheap way to rank up I suppose). Anyway, I'm tired of being in the basement and having most of the upgrades. Hopefully it's enough.

JamesDowning wrote:ORTB is now offering a new feature dubbed the "Trail Experience Rank". Your build threads will be sorted by this same system, so if you feel you are inappropriately sorted, write up your trip reports, and get your rank changed!

You will notice a 'Rank' category located under my profile data, to the left of this post. This is a profile entry that can only be changed by admins. The goal of the 'trail experience rank' is to show at a glance the experience of our members. At the same time it is designed to push the members to attain the next rank and give people a motivation to for post trail and trip write-ups.

Currently there are 6 attainable ranks (not including the default "Mall Rated"):

  • Trail Ready: Posted proof of at least one off highway trip.
  • Offroad Rated: Lifted truck and posted proof of at least 3 off highway trips, one of which should be considered non-stock passable.
  • Offroad Guide: Has guided and posted at least three trips with numerous vehicles, has experience in vehicle recovery.
  • Extreme Offroader: Has posted trips that include some of the most difficult trails known to GMT360s. These trails would be equivalent to 4.5 on our trail rating scale.
  • Expedition Rated: Anyone who has posted trips of over 6 nights involving off road travel and logistics.
  • Expedition Guide: Anyone who has posted a trip of over 6 nights involving off road travel and logistics and has guided and posted at least three trips with numerous vehicles and has experience with vehicle recovery.

posted proof = A trail* summary thread on ORTB with details of where, who, and pictures!
*trail = Off-road park or forest/desert trail. Slinging mud in a pit in your back yard does not count.

IF YOU FEEL YOU FIT UNDER ONE OF THESE CATEGORIES, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHICH RANK YOU FEEL YOU DESERVE, AND POST THE APPROPRIATE LINKS TO THE WRITE-UPS AND YOUR BUILD THREAD WITH YOUR POSTED REQUEST. We will not keep track of your trail records!

I had a moderator and a founder watching... haha Could someone please let me know if that counts, or if there is another requirement. I didn't do a trip report for the 3rd venture and I will if that's all I need.

Eric, Basically that's all you need, a trip report with you in it (by anyone) and a link to each one. Preferably all in the same post with the request of the rank you're ready for.

I don't see a request with postings of write-ups... Read the rules in the first post.

So here is the request?

This is one link...

Not trying to be a dick but read the first post in the thread...

Here is your spoon... Offroad Rated: Lifted truck and posted proof of at least 3 off highway trips, one of which should be considered non-stock passable.

Matt, I know you're likely posting from your phone, but it sure makes it a lot easier when you do as mentioned above. Request for the rank, then the link to the trail reports you were in that get you that rank, as mentioned above, preferably all in the same post. I'm a big fan of the minimalist approach myself. Succinct and easy to check. Since you still haven't asked for a trail rating we have (are we making a new "offroad ready" rating just for you?), I dunno what to do to help.

I thought Larry did an exceedingly excellent job of trying to get you squared away, but I'm guessing you need further spoon feeding, I posted this not too terribly long ago and my experience rank was changed quickly and without any further work. I'd recommend making a post similar to mine that's quoted below.

Good lord people.

First of all, the ranks were originally there as a quick reference measure of experience, and as a way of "awarding" people for posting content. Good trip threads are not easy to take the time to do. This ranking system is also now part of the build threads. The idea here is that by ranking the build threads together, newbies can get an easier idea of the range of different levels of vehicular modification that we represent here.

Second, the "non-stock passable" portion of the requirements is taken fairly lightly. As long as it's not a scenic dirt road, we'd probably take it. You won't find any of us giving much attention to the level of difficulty of your trails. We're just glad you're out exploring the world.

Third, how hard is it to post the following:

Requested rank
The required link or links to your trip reports
Build thread link

If you post that, as has been seen many times before in this very thread, you will get your rank immediately changed! I think this is a very fair expectation of ORTBers.

This is an honest question - how can we make this any clearer?

I'm deleting the prior discussion in this thread, because it will only serve to confuse people further.
