ORTB is now offering a new feature dubbed the "Trail Experience Rank". Your build threads will be sorted by this same system, so if you feel you are inappropriately sorted, write up your trip reports, and get your rank changed!

You will notice a 'Rank' category located under my profile data, to the left of this post. This is a profile entry that can only be changed by admins. The goal of the 'trail experience rank' is to show at a glance the experience of our members. At the same time it is designed to push the members to attain the next rank and give people a motivation to for post trail and trip write-ups.

Currently there are 6 attainable ranks (not including the default "Mall Rated"):

  • Trail Ready: Posted proof of at least one off highway trip.
  • Offroad Rated: Lifted truck and posted proof of at least 3 off highway trips, one of which should be considered non-stock passable trail.
  • Offroad Guide: Has guided and posted at least three trail rides with numerous vehicles, has experience in vehicle recovery.
  • Extreme Offroader: Has posted trips that include some of the most difficult trails known to GMT360s. These trails would be equivalent to 4.5 on our trail rating scale.
  • Expedition Rated: Anyone who has posted trips of over 6 nights involving off road travel and logistics.
  • Expedition Guide: Anyone who has posted a trip of over 6 nights involving off road travel and logistics and has guided and posted at least three trips with numerous vehicles and has experience with vehicle recovery.

posted proof = A trail* summary thread on ORTB with details of where, who, and pictures!
*trail = Off-road park or forest/desert trail. Slinging mud in a pit in your back yard does not count.

IF YOU FEEL YOU FIT UNDER ONE OF THESE CATEGORIES, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHICH RANK YOU FEEL YOU DESERVE, AND POST THE APPROPRIATE LINKS TO THE WRITE-UPS AND YOUR BUILD THREAD WITH YOUR POSTED REQUEST. We will not keep track of your trail records!

I believe I'm ready to be moved to offroad rated as well... Refugio Rd is my 3rd documented trip.

1) Scary Dairy - http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=332, http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=562

2) Borrego - http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=526

3) Refugio Rd - http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=625

There we go.

Zero, do you have trip reports for these things? Part of the reason for the ranking system is to encourage the creation of new material for other members to see on this site. If you have these threads, just post up the links and I'll change it for you.

Note: I am not being sarcastic or mean with this post, and have mad respect for Zero and his work and trips. But rules are rules. Just keeping precedents set.

Im sorry I didnt think posting a link was necessary since the thread re. the trip I did with the Roadie is on this forum already.

I will have to track down a link to the trip thread with Alekg on the trailvoy site, and pics from my trip to Niagara. :work:

I understand your need to have proof. But if something is already on this forum, why must a link be created? There is even already a thread on the forum where all info for trips past and present would already be.
So it should be self explanitory for the next person who is looking for info on a past / completed trip to go to the proper thread on the forum home page.

I need you to post a link to the thread because it's unfair to expect me to search through all the trail ride threads for the specific one you're intending. It just makes it easier for me - who has to change your profile settings. Thanks!

I have a hard drive camcorder that has sat in a box for years since we got it one Christmas... it's going to start coming with me on my trips.

Get this http://joby.com/gorillapod/slr/ and put the camcorder on the dash. That is what I do for my videos.

I've got a camera setup that I'll debut at TECORE 3. I just need to find a better editing program for the video files... microsoft movie maker doesn't like the format.

Use Adobe Audition. It works quite well. kinda like final cut. Or get your self a copy of Avid. It takes some getting used to the file system...which is quite sensitive. But its hands down the most powerfull way to digitally edit. Its industry standard.

I will bringing 2 different kinds of HERO cams. And possibly my sony handheld hd camera. I have some interesting mounts I will bring with me too.
