I'm rebuilding an extra so I'll be ready to install it when I swap my diff. Already have the bearings, washers, and seals. Took it apart to clean, bead blast, and get the rebuild and found the outer gear had pitting where the bearing rides...so I need a replacement. Thanks

Most used ones will have pitting, top is from my buddy Cody before he put in the AWD sleeve, bottom is mine after a seal and bearing failure. I personally suggest putting in the AWD sleeve if you rebuilding but for the price of a new one.

Mine looks like the top one.... I have an AWD disconnect, with a good sleeve in it....but I'm still trying to keep the disconnect as designed. I do a lot more highway than off road driving, and don't want to lose that 1-2mpg... Thanx!

They will pretty much all have the pitting in them.

So is this pitting, if it is indeed a common issue, a problem? If I put new bearings in.....will this affect the longevity of them? I typically ensure there is a clean, blemish free surface on all parts that ride directly on a bearing....so this is new territory for me :)

The pitting on mine is slightly less than in the top photo. If this doesnt affect the performance or longevity of the disconnect.....

Thanks guys!
