Note, I don't know the seller. Pretty good price for a spare, though.

I've been scouting for spare encoder motors, but nothing below the 160-170s, argh.

Speaking of, did you ever diagnose my bad unit? Did the motor just crap out? The gears and such still seemed more than fine.

Not yet. I'm hoping to get the time to measure the angles that my encoder goes to for the various modes also. Another gadget idea I have is a cheaper replacement TCCM that would do 2HI, 2LO, 4HI, 4LO, and Neutral, and avoid the useless A4WD mode with its clutch adaptive pressure crap. And quit using the failure prone resistive control switch. And kill off the annoying feature that disables the TCCM if any sensor fails, instead of a more rational "tell you a sensor failure happened, but at least TRY to limp you home" behavior.

I'm WAY INTERESTED in this :awesome: .. and if you can do it for the all-wheel v8 drive 4runner, I'll sell them all day long for you. :happy whip:

What about a simple 3-way override directly spliced into the actuator control wires. (Engage/disengage/Off(normal) )

That would be the easy way to get a 2LO function, as long as the TCCM is still running the encoder motor, and you also simulate the sensor output properly. If you want to suppress A4WD or handle a failed TCCM on the trail, you have to deal with overriding BOTH the encoder motor and the front axle actuator. Because of the feedback sensors. But if I tell everybody how to do it with clip leads and wire nuts, how can I sell a $50 gadget? :finger:

Go the easy route and simply throw in a spare TCCM. Then you can charge them $75 :coffee2:

Of course, I'll demo it for free :poke: :finger:
