Nah a year ago maybe, ever since his new job he's been eating too many donuts... :friday:

He said he talked to a BDS rep and they told him it was the wrong length or something like that.

I was curious about that, since in the BDS shock discussion thread the BDS rep said the difference between the 9500s and 5500s was fade, not length. Those are definitely longer than my 5500's.

9500s have the stainless shiny body, 5500s have the boring white body... that is just the way it is... only a small part of the differences between the two shocks.

Talked with our lovely Site supported BDS rep.

Turns out, the shocks i recieved are in fact the proper valving, however for what ever reasr have the wrong size body. Turnes out, i have a longer sized body, but with the same valving for our vehicles. He has no clue how this happened either, i have some type of lemon (nothing on my truck is normal anyways, so these work great)

The main difference between the 95s and 55s is not just the body. Both sets have the same valving, however the 95s are built for more abuse. The 55s are more than adequate, however since i do often tow with my truck as well as hit the trails right after towing, my shocks get worked pretty good. This is why i chose the 95s over the 55s. Although, my shiney brushed aluminum clear coated finish looks pretty cool :fro:

I thought they looked excessively long, thats why I asked about length differences. I'm sure they'll get you straightened out Brendan. The worry about using too-long shocks is what was previously mentioned... your spring can fall out under max extension.

Our control arms will max out before shock and even with one of my ca removed i still cant drop the rear axle enough to remove the spring. Just ask mario or tom on this one

I might install too-long shocks for street use only while the vendor sent me replacements. Certainly wouldn't wheel with them hoping the control arms and brake lines would limit the axle's downward motion. Way too much risk without limiting straps.
