No Body Lift with 5.3L V8?? No more 3" Body Lifts??

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Hello all,

I'm about to pick up a 2005 Trailblazer EXT with the intention to lift and put 32 or 33" tires on. I've been through ALL of these forums and I have a couple questions left unanswered... hopefully you can all help!

1) The 3" Body Lift Kits seem to have gone away since 2012. WHAT HAPPENED? Does anyone still make them?
2) The EXT I'm purchasing has the 5.3L V-8! But the only body lifts I can find is the 2" from Zone Offroad, but it says it's for 4.2L ONLY? Does anyone know why I couldn't use this kit on the 5.3L? I think I read somewhere there is a mod you must do for the radiator bracket?
3) I was planning to do the 3" lift kit and the MDB steel bumper kit for the 3" lift. But now it seems like there is a mismatch in the market - 3" body lift MDB bumper kits but only 2" body lift kits available. And no 2" MDB bumper kit... HELP!!

No demand for them really to get someone to stock them. They were really only done by two people and with random suppliers. No one makes one now, but it is being attempted currently.

You can do the body lift with a 5.3.

Build your own or slap some JK frame Horns on and the frame rails and bolt on one of the million or so available for that platform. They actually fit pretty good.

The radiator bracket will require modification for a V8 body lift. I think I had to lengthen mine. It's been a while.

I pieced my body lift together, just order the bolts and the 3" blocks. Relocating the bumpers is a little more difficult, but it's not a huge deal

Anyone have a list of what to order? From the looks of the Zone Offroad kits, it seems like there's a lot of specific parts to do this lift in 2". Not sure if just ordering longer bolts and 3" blocks will do it. Any thoughts?

The bolts that came with the kit I purchased were tagged with a John Deere part number.

I don't remember the bolt lengths or sizes off the top of my head, but I do remember finding em on some ancient post on the old trailblazer/envoy board.

I have a set that I just pulled out and did my one inch body lift, I'll measure and post length they are at the shop so it will be tomorrow (Sunday). As far as the front and rear bumper brackets you will have to fab something up not to hard. Also you will need to extend your heater core hoses and fuel filler neck. Biggest thing will be a steering shaft extension.

With the 2" Zone I had no issues with h heater core or filler neck. I might have had to disconnect a support for the filler neck but that was all.
Besides blocks, steering extension, bolts and bumpers, the radiator is all I remember doing. The rear bumper was the most nerve racking, making sure the cuts were right on the stock tow receiver mount.

I did not extend heater core or fuel filler with 2 or 3 inch body. Disco the fuel, but no issues.

My hoses may have been cut by the po not sure, but I needed to change them to longer ones. As far as the body bolts the stock set have 2 different sizes. markmc » Wed Mar 23, 2011 4:47 am
Not sure what the stock bolt lenght is, but here is the length i used for the 3" body lift.

The very front 2 body mount bolts are m12x230
The rear 10 body mount bolts are m12x190

There are also 2 front bumper relocation bolts to raise the

After careful consideration, I ordered up the 3" suspension lift and I'm going to stick with 32" tires. Seems as though even with a 3" body lift, anything over 33" will still probably require fender trimming. To me, not worth the effort at this point since I don't plan to maximize my offroad capability... yet :)

Thanks so much to everyone for the advice and quick responses!!
