Sick of stock height

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by Rickalicka18 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 10:10 pm

Really getting sick of my stock height and am ready to start gathering parts for lifting my tb... Just wanna make sure I get EVERYTHING I'll need for this so I'm not going back later. What I have in mind so far:
-3in front lift kit
-2in rear
- hd shocks front (trailblazer)
-Bilsten hd shock back (yukon, tahoe, avalanche type)
-Z71 yukon/tahoe rear springs
-Stiffer front springs?
Anything I'm missing? Other than bigger tires. Please let me know if I should add or use something different. I know little to nothing about lifting vehicles so I want to make sure I'm not missing anything or am doing anything wrong. Thanks in advance! :D

Make sure your rear shocks are longer than stock, and you need a bunch of washers to take the space on either side shock mount. Are you planning on wheeling? Armor armor. What gears do you have and tire size are you going with cause you may need a secondary tranny cooler.

I was going to do the tahoe/ yukon style bilsten hd shocks in the rear, so shouldn't they be longer? As well as the z71 yukon/ tahoe springs. And I have washers. I will be wheeling with it eventually, but for now its my daily driver so armor isn't too important right now. For now, if anything, it'll be towing a small two snowmobile trailer. I have 3.43 gears which I will upgrade in the far future to 4.10, but will stay 3.43 for now, and I was thinking for tires 265/65/17 or 265/70/17. I do have a tranny cooler, just haven't put it in yet. Also gotta get a tranny temp guage.

Panhard bar to center the rear axle side to side after lift. Could also do the rear control arms to center in the wheelwell.

I'm assuming the control arms would be a custom fab up, right?

I'll be damned. I will definitely need these since I have circular wheelwells. Thanks for the info.

Suggestion if you want it done "right". You said EVERYTHING so those would be parts of that.

Hahaha okay. I'm sorry if it sounded like i gave you attitude or anything I was just confused. Mostly because I had no idea what you were talking about haha.. But I did research and your talking about this:

I have no idea what the second one is which you said "I could also do the rear control arms to center in the wheelwell". Could you clarify?

When you lift the tires get sucked forward in the wheel well. So if you use longer rear control arms...you end up back centered in the well. Not a big issue until you get in the 35 inch tire range, but it is something in the Everything category.

I have a suicidedoors.com adjustable panhard, but not sure they are even made anymore. I think the Massive is likely the way to go.

I believe they had a forum discount or something if you bought a whole kit, but that may have just been in the beginning. Worth looking arounf the site though if you do go all out.

Okay that makes sense, because i see when some guys put their 3in lift on, the back tires looked like they were hugging the front part of the wheel well haha. Would you know where I could get them, or the how much more length I would need for the control arms in order to center them?

Massive has them.

I got some one off from a member here that was going to make them and never really came to fruition. Mine are 1/2 inch lnger and I would have done a bit more I think. The massive are adjustable though i believe.

Okay. I will look at that! Thankyou for the suggestions. Those are both definitely things I should get. Do you or anyone have any advice on what I should get for front springs? Mine now seem soft and I don't know if i should get some stiffer springs to accommodate the rear z71 springs.

Thats personal preference. I hated the Z71 ride myself, but others like em. I had a ton of weight up front and used 88s, but still have a new set of Moog 114 around cause i thought they would be a good fit as well.

So do you think something like 85s would be good? I'm unsure what I have right now. And Is there a better rear spring to go with other than the z71 spring?
