Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What is this for?..rubbing at full turn.

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

I'm getting some rubbing at full lock on both sides. Does anyone know why there is this little tumor looking projection here? I haven't had a chance to get underneath and see what is there, but from the outside, looks like a BFH will eliminate the rubbing.

That hole is commonly used to tie down the truck on a tow truck with some J hooks, can also use it to pull the vehicle around. It shouldn't stick out.

Get a hammer and bang it in.

It sticks out factory, so it should stick out. However, it should not cause any issue to bang it flat except that you need to seal the metal up in and out if you dont want potential for rust there after.

I banged on one side last night then hit it w/ some coating. I didn't think of the backside, so I'll be sure to spray that also. I figured I'd try one side and see if it makes much difference. I surprised I haven't seen anyone else mention this area. Surely it has happened before.

My tires rub there once in a blue moon. I try not to full lock it though, in general.

I get rubbing there, but only when parking. Never heard it on the trail. Yet to have it cause any real issue. Figure its a non-issue. Rather have that steering stop and less chance of serious frame rust than beat it in.

I did think about tossing 2 inch spacers up front to eliminate the rub.

Strange, my 02 envoy doesn't stick out there, it's just a hole.

That is strange. I think they have been bumped out on every one of this platform I have wrenched on. Wonder if it was a change after the first year like some of the other oddities.

Could be a spot that they used for picking up the chassis on the assembly line and ferrying it through the factory. I can see that sort of stuff changing a bit over time as the manufacturing engineers try to improve their efficiency.

Update: With the help of a large, heavy tool, the protrusions have been recessed and I no longer have rubbing issues at full lock.
