My first shock broke on the highway. Ripped the threads off the shock shaft. I didn't realize what had happened until I went to disassemble it and the whole thing exploded a foot from my face. I'd strongly recommend you read this thread...
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3283My build thread has a rundown of rebuilding a CV, there's also a thread "cv boot that stays together" that you'll probably want to search for and read. I'm reasonably sure the aftermarket CV shafts have a cunt hair more flex. Stock CVs always give me a fit when I try to swing them outta the knuckle with just the upper a arm off the spindle, in contrast the aftermarket ones seem to slide outta the knuckle without much issue. I haven't measured the angles, so take it with a grain of salt until somebody does. Either way, functionally it doesn't really matter. Don't forget to toss a few washers on the shock to gain a bit more travel when you lift it. It does make a difference.
I would encourage you to do some more reading on here, there's a lot of good info and it's largely tech dense. A few hours reading will save you from experiencing a lot of the teething pains we've had a long the way.
