Your issues after lifting

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

When I initially flipped mine, I had hand tools and a 4.5" grinder to work with. I had to trim/bend my inner fender's a bit, and the way I do it is to hook them to the UBJ, then manhandle the whole thing back up to the frame and get a bolt in there.

I was looking at some other posts here with pics and lot of info, so I'm confident that I can do this job. Did not know that you change left for right then flip, makes sense though.
Don't look back, you're not going that way.

If you put your lift in, you can flip your arms. I could probably pull mine in an hour or so, including time to look for tools, jack the thing up, find my stands, etc lol. But I've had them off three or 4 times.

Uca's are new flipped and swapped. Moog was the first set that got holes in the boots. Had a shop put in new ones and now the driver side ubj has a hole in it. All this in less than 6 months..... Is this a common problem with lifting? I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet... Are the 2500hd ball joints the solution?

They are a lot stronger for sure. Sounds like your pinching them somehow. I never flipped my ucas and haven't had an issue with them yet. If you keep tearing them maybe flip them back?? Dunno, you wheel it hard?

My boots always tear within a month or two of putting them in. They just aren't meant to bend at the angles we push them to. The solution is to just get joints with grease fittings and grease em up every now and then. When you squirt new grease in, it pushes the old grease out along with dirt and water. I have grease fittings on all my ball joints, upper and lower, and tie rod joints.

That's what I have now... So just keep greasing them and call it a day?

That's my two cents. Just keep on keepin on with them until the actual joint goes bad. The reason we worry about boots tearing is because then dirt and water ruin the grease and in turn ruin the joint, so as long as you keep the grease fresh and clean you should be good.

You could always make your own like James did. He gave me his old jig that he used to make his, and I've yet to use it. I think I might just change the brackets on mine and see if it helps the ball joint angles. He did johnny joints @ $200 a set...

Never heard of the 2500 ball joints being used. Can you share a link to some of those using them?

I know some use the 2500 tie rods, but I see them bend pretty easy amongst those I wheel with.

You mean his one off control arms--I see those, but no mention of 2500 ball joints in the build thread for those or his build thread that i saw.

He has the hybrid 2500 tie rods as well.

No ball joint or drive shaft issues yet, knock on wood. Just replaced the bad struts (were stock), installed awd disconnect collar (super easy if you don't remove the entire disconnect), both front wheel bearings, and both outer tie rod ends. One of the wheel bearings I think was good, but I was chasing the growl. Both outer tie rod ends had a good bit of play, which is strange. I just had the wheels rotated and balanced a couple thousand miles before I started doing the work. There was not a loose part on the suspension at that point.

Not bad for 30k on lift. I would venture that anyone doing a lift should just go ahead and do the awd disconnect collar as well, it'll be needed at some point anyway and could save you some headache in the future.

OH WHERE DO I BEGIN?!

-Skyjackers in rear not fitting properly and no spacers provided when they are specifically meant to go on a lifted TV.
-Front strut slammed into my chest when compressing. That one I will blame on myself when putting back together I dropped the washer and it shot out.
-Didn't know that the axles pull more with the angle change and the boots popped off on both sides sprayed grease everywhere and caught the drivers side on fire and potentially ruined my disconnect.
-Upper BJ on passenger side came apart and control arm fell off when I parked the truck. THANK GOD. Had to replace the whole knuckle since it is seized in there.

Maybe flipping the UCA when first doing the install would have helped prevent all of this? I don't know. This is just getting ridiculous for 3 inches and some nicer tires for the winter that are already fried through because of the bad angle.
