Regarding Skyjacker N3030 rear shocks

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by KilluminatiDre » Sat Oct 25, 2014 7:28 pm

Ok so I want to install my MarkMc 3'' kit and I understand that I need longer shocks in the rear. I want to get the skyjacker N3030 but I want to ask if they will bolt right up or if there is any additional hardware needed? I couldn't find the answer in a search. I want to make sure I get everything I need right from the start. I've overseas and it takes awhile to get mail so I miss something the process will be even longer.

I'm using those shocks but went a little different route than most. It semester people use a few washers to space/center the shock in the lower mount.

So pretty much washers that I can get from a hardware store equivalent to Home Depot or Lowes?

That is my understanding. I'm expecting someone who uses washers to come along and mention how they did it. I melted the rubber bushings out of my stock shocks. Then slid the steel bushings into the new shocks. I'm thinking washers would be a better idea. lol I'm 18 months strong with no issues. As others have reported, the rust proofing on the shocks leaves room for improvement. There are other shocks that look better for longer, but the performance of the Skyjacker seems to satisfy everyone.

I have the skyjackers and used the washer 4 IIRC on each side work great. And I bought them off there web site in scratch and dent area. They looked like new maybe just opened and sent back IDK. But they work fine.

Look up N8030, I think that is why you didn't get any results. I have 5 body washers on each side of the shock to hold it centered and fill the void. I have been running fine with them for about 3 years now.

I checked that out. I'm almost certain that is for 1 shock. It doesn't mention being a pair.

That should be for one shock Grimor.

Cross reference with http://www.skyjacker.com and search for #N8030D. Those are the 'scratch and dent' ones that are offered at the discounted rate, although mine looked brand new and they've performed perfectly fine.

Just noticed the reviews, 2 of the comments are mine (CBO) :-)
Notice the plug for the lift and offroadtb.com :-)
The price is each.

hah. even after seeing this and putting 7/16" washers in there the id of the washers still is off to compress the bushing. i have been trying ever since to get it right. until then i'm dealing with the clunk... theres the initial washer that is different to compress it that is throwing me off. might just take a 1/2 bit and go to town on a few of them. also looks as if the user has used a different bolt and nut entirely, maybe a smaller diameter as well because i know the old one looked a little larger...

I cut the "tabs" off the stock shocks and used them as spacers instead of the 7/16 washers. Very nice, tight and clean install. I explain near the bottom of this thread viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5657

I wish i still had the luxury of cutting the tabs off. The old shocks were so bad i threw them away with pleasure.
