To do a body lift or not to do a body lift that is the ???

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Well i cant do anymore suspension lift but my truck just doesnt feel tall enough lol. I want to start looking for a steel bumper but i dont want to buy a non BL bumper then decide to do a BL. Pretty much im just asking if a body lift is worth the almost $400? i know it looks cool but just wondering if theres anymore of a benefit.
Only victory red TB I see on here lol

Just to fit bigger tires, if you're sticking with 33s you can be fine without it. It does help with body clearance with 33s as well, but it doesn't have any other benefit.

Only you can decide if your mission requires it.

I think Matt's synopsis is generally correct.

I was a "no need for a body lift with 33's" sort of guy. Got a custom bumper and radiator skid plate that way, too.

Then I got sick of the way new MTRs that were slightly larger than nominal 33" were always hitting the fenders, especially when coming down ledges when turned, and then the springs compressed. One time, the LCA moved rearward and the tire lugs were sliced into 1/2" deep by the back wheelwell opening sheet metal. Changed my mind instantly then - I forgot that a hard enough whack could more the tire rearwards.

Got the 2" BDS body lift, and spent the money to move the bumper brackets up and to get a new Mike Barton custom radiator plate. Doesn't matter what it cost to change my mind - my personal mission demanded it.

ADDED: "Looking cool" is not part of the equation. Shouldn't even be mentioned as a perceived benefit.

I was in the same scenario as you a couple years back and decided to do the body lift before the sliders and bumpers, cause you know, why be like roadie?!?! LOL

Depending on the 33 it can "look cool" or not, it does give extra room, I know the 33s on the envoy are close with no body lift, Matt's 33s have a fair amount of room and he's only running a 2"body lift, 32s on my trailblazer with the 3"lift and the 3"body lift was too much lift for that tire.

You mentioned it doesn't seem tall enough. Body lift is pretty much your only option. I don't regret mine at all.

It comes down to: Body lift allows bigger tires and easier spark plug changes. Does not increase ground clearance.
I've got radflos in front BDS 2" in rear w/ 33"s and rubbing is not a concern.
If you're not going to put 35"s under your truck, I don't see the need to spend $400 + time/blood to install.
your call.

Also keep in mind that a body lift raises your center of gravity which should be a concern if you're in an off camber situation.

And these trucks are already top heavy. Especially if your tire is on top. But I can see not having a body lift being fine with just 33s and I have the same setup as bacon and have never had a problem and stuff the rear tires plenty of times.
