Marks 3" kit with z71's

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Could be any number of factors, but none of them are anything to worry about. 1/4" seems pretty good to me.

The lifted tahoe shocks should be fine, 2.5" of travel doesn't seem too bad, especially compared to the front. What's your full shock extension on those? ~26 inches? You're good if so.

Yes, I have the Bilstein 33-185552s (255/70) as discussed by fishsticks and Opeth here: http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3438

The Bilstein 33-185552s are:
Collapsed Length: 15.91"
Extended Length: 25.93"

I thought I had done diligent research before purchasing anything but was worried I got the wrong shocks, so thanks for the "you're good"; it gives me a warm fuzzy I didn't miss something.

Question:
ErikSS wrote:I have Z71 springs and Marks 2" rear spacers. The real question is shock extention. The distance your axle is allowed to travel down is limited by your shock. I have the Skyjacker N8030 shocks and feel they are perfect for not needing to change the brake lines.
(from this thread: http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4928#p95757

EDIT
----
For reference the N8030s are:
Collapsed Length: 15.690"
Extended Length: 26.570"
----

From ErikSS's post, if I understand correctly, the shocks are what is going to limit the down travel, which means that for any rear suspension (lifted or not) the shocks will top out regardless at full extension....is this a correct statement or am I missing something? I figure something else has to be involved otherwise we'd be damaging our shocks right?

The 3" Marks spacer is going on its 2nd attempt. Upon further review and Marks input I found a bolt on his spacer is not straight and I will "adjust it and maybe open the hole on the upper perch slightly... I plan on ordering the longer than OEM Bilstein (33-185552) 46mm Monotube Shock Absorbers http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CITF8S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1TSKUBQC6QE0G&coliid=I1979VCOASUMQC , for the rear with my Z71 springs which are installed.
What is the matching longer than OEM front Bilstein front shock model & part ?
I searched and cannot find where I copied the information, but I just found out my buddy gets a huge discount on my truck parts! Once I get the model # I can disclose the pricing...

there is no longer front shock. You could add a few washers to the top shock bolt but we already have to be careful with CV bind at full droop.
You would have to play with it to get it just right without letting the CV bind.

These RCV http://www.rcvperformance.com/category-ultimate-ifs-axles.aspx CVs seem like they offer more articulation to reduce binding. I am waiting to hear from them. See if they want to tackle the tripod inner :zombie:

I expect they don't get much call for our platform at $2500 per pair.

So the OEM and HD front shocks are the longest other than the Rad Flo with its adjustability?

I am keeping on the road most of the time, just need to do some foot high curb hopping in Mexico sometimes and keep the AWD "lurching" and accelerating like a scalded dog. The AWD really hooks up nice when slaloming and still handles great when driven hard on the street. I guess a prerunner & autox X and daily driver. Hmmmm, I have not considered the sas for the front. Any ideas on which Brand for front air shocks?

Right now I'm running marks 2.5 leveling kit but plan to move up to the 3" in the front but I know someone is selling some z71's with wheel spacers. My question is what spring combo is good with the 3" block in the front and z71's with the 2" block in the rear? Or am I better off having stock springs in the front with the 3" block and just the z71's in the rear?

Stiffer springs up front are normally needed if the have a steel bumper or just want a little stiffer ride.

I don't to run a steel bumper or have any extra weight to compensate for the stiffer springs. I was thinking of running 87's up front with the 3". The reason I want z71's are for the trailers I haul every now and then.

The z71 are great I was unsure at first but I like them. Idk about the 87 without the extra weight.

Oh ok, are you running the 2" block in the rear? And what shocks?

I've never run 87s. But from what I understand, they should work well with the set up you've described.

I agree with Erik, 87s are fine without any of the extra weight and a 3 inch block. Thats the limit though without a bumper, I had 89s with no weight in the front but a 2.5 spacer combo. Never had a serious problem besides topping out, didn't break shocks or anything just the usual strut bushing. 88-89s with no bumper and 3 inch block we have seen problems with in the past with blowing shocks up.
