Ah, front swaybars will play a factor, and not measuring to a point on the wheel or hub will also make a difference. Sway bars can certainly stop a suspension from drooping out, if the other side is still on the ground.

So I decided after a week of looking at it that I am going to reduce these down to 3.50 from 3.75. Some times it looks like the front is sitting a tad higher than the back, other times it looks level. And I started thinking about how it might look with more weight in the rear.

Adjusted the my RadFlo's today, In order to hold them for adjustment I match drilled a 2"x36" piece of flat steel, shimmed with a couple washers to clear the shock and start turning. It looks like one full turn equals 1/16 of an inch so take your time and try not to slip the spanner. It's easy to bugger up the treads. We're looking at a couple days of rain here so once I'm able to get back on it I'm gonna flip the UCA's, new upper & lower ball joints and install radflos.

I realized, we need to also take into account body lift numbers when we report our numbers.

Ok. As far as how to measure... I don't know What my problem was that Night... Haha. Measuring the way we've decided on... I'm at 4.25". As far as droop... I was equally wacked in the head. There is a line on my wheel hub I measured from. I measured 27" with and 27.5" without weight. No wonder it seemed to top out.
Ok. I went from 4.25 all the way to 3.5". I lost only 0.25" at the fender. I want to drive it this way but I might be following Mike all the way to 3". Let us know how that works.

No way you reduced your preload by .75" and only reduced the ride height by .25", its a 2:3 factor. Reduce preload by .75", and you have to get something closer to 1.125" of suspension height reduction, its just a matter of geometry... that is - unless you actually had zero suspension extension before.

So you were there... and measured? Not everything is simple geometry. There is human error! haha

I think I basically had no extension. I had extended it beyond what I needed to by a long ways. I did mention right away that it had stopped lifting so I stopped turnning.

I think Erik doesn't know how to use the tape measure. :finger:

Evidently I can't measure for shit. haha I will have AJ do all my tape measure work from now on.
Bad Erik :angry whip:

I can feel a difference in the ride/handling between the 4.25" and 3.5" I like it much better. I still may go down further, but I might not. Anyone try any heights other than factory prest on TByoda and 3.5" on mine and Mikes?

I adjusted mine today using my patented technique of hitch reciever + high lift...

Image

Adjusted them to ~3.35" (from top of spring to black cap)

Image

Gave me a tire to fender clearance of 7.5" on each side. I was lazy and hadn't slept in over 36 hours, so I didnt do the other measurments... Truck rides alot better since the adjustment and I like the new view

Also, side note... anyone been having issues of UCA bolts working loose?

Haven't heard of it. Might want to take that conversation elsewhere before we hijack this thread.

When you can take the hub to fender measurement, we'd love to see it.

Mine are installed, I picked up an 1.5" in fender height.

I have them set a hair over 3.5". I was at 41" ground to fender, now sitting at 42.5". My down travel limit is 44" and there is no CV bind. I am thinking of trying the small spacer on the outside and see how it does.

Did you disassemble those to paint them?

I found my numbers to change dramatically when I started measuring from the center of the hub. I thought I had like 1.5" of down travel when in fact I had like 0.5" when I was cranked way down. If you don't mind, check at the extended vs vehicle weight measuring from the center of the hub. I think I was including some of the tire and other flex that I shouldn't have been.

Thanks for posting more numbers! I believe you said you were running 88's. That's information this thread didn't have and needed!

Set mine to 2.75". Got 22.25" hub center to fender (no BL), right where I wanted to be. I didn't measure extension distance, but I knew I was in the clear.
