WHen I installed marks 3" spacer. On the springs I noticed on had a Yellow stripe on the top of the spring and the other white? I couldn't find anything, telling me what they were.... Thoughts?

What are your RPO codes on the glovebox lid? 6xx and 7xx?

He's got a 2002, I think the RPO codes I have listed are basically for 2004+.

Based on your truck being a 4WD SWB, you can bet that they are both somewhere around 83s.

Ok thats the answer I got on GMT a while back. I didn't know that they had the Yellow and white on the springs then.

According to my build sheet I have a 82 and an 83. I would like to reaplace them while I am adding my 2.5" lift in. I am running monroe sensa tracks, and not willing to swap them at this time. They have only 12K on them. Would it be okay to run with the 86's in the front? Also what is the purpse of them running 2 different springs in the front? and do I need to do the same? I do want to be able to drive this on the highway and some small easy trails. At this time I do not plan on adding any heavy bumpers or a winch to the front. I have a build sheet that 07TB from the OS ran for me some time ago that I will include incase I missed something.

LIGHT GRAY
28I - LIGHT GRAY 6HP - SUSPENSION
7HN 8NS - SUSPENSION
9NS - SUSPENSION

That is how it was sent to me from my vin number.

GM mixing springs is pretty common on our platform, likely due to expected load distribution and handling.
You should be fine switching to the 86s if you can find them.
We don't really have an option except coil overs for longer front shocks so if you are satisfied with your shocks you should be fine.

Just noticed this misconception in an old thread.

The thickness of the spacers gives you 50% MORE effective lift because of the lever arm effect. The strut does not mount as far outboard as possible on the LCA - it mounts about 2/3 of the way out. That also means the spring is 50% stiffer than it would be if it was a classic Macpherson design.

Gotcha. So 2" of spacer = 3" of lift due to the lever arm of the LCA.
boog2006 wrote:I had a hard time getting the coil compressors off do to there being more coils on the moods. I had to spin the ends if the compressors around the spring till they reached the bottom coil to get them off. Really did some damage to the spring finish. :(

Next time, stick a big screw driver between the coils and pry it open. That's what I had to do. Though the spring finish might not be a big deal, as I understand the Moogs rust pretty fast even with the factory finish.

I had the same problem.I just cut some 15 degree wedges from a 2x4 and pounded them into the spring gap to open them up to get the compressor off.

Well research has all come up "computer selected suspension" for 6wz/7wz and there are no tags on the front springs.
Rear springs are light green (88) driver and pink (84) passenger, not that info matters since the rears will be swapped to Z71's. Guess the fronts will be swapped to MOOG 86 equivalents and call it good.

You should be happy with the 86 equivalents. Looking forward to hearing about the lift you get. Keep us updated, lots of people are looking for this info

They will be going on with Marks 3" lift whenever I get to start ordering stuff. Not coming together as fast as I had hoped.
But buying a house kinda kills and budget for toys. Have a lift and goodies, or have down payment and closing cost saved in the bank...
When the time does come, I will be sure to let everyone know how they work out

I have 08 also and the same RPOs code as you. I ripped off the tag (which was all white) and it read 15125883 for driver side. Could get a number on passenger side but tag looks the same. Going back chart you would get 1.06" lift going with the 89.

I'm going to update the first post with the sold-out status of these springs... Is it 89s, 88s, & 87s that are sold out?
